Sylvia Weatherspoon is a Professional storyteller and is known for outstanding achievements as a Television and Radio News Anchor (WBRZ, ESPN Radio), Digital Content Creator, Voice and Film Actor, Motivational Speaker and Moderator.
Over the past 40 years, she has become the voice and face we know and trust for information that matters to us.
Sylvia has been recognized with many awards and accolades that come with excellence in reporting from various broadcast industry organizations, including the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.
She is often featured in local publications for honors including Influential Women in Business, and Favorite TV News Personality in Best of 225 Magazine.
Since 2015 Sylvia has served as Founder and President of Sylvia’s Toys For Christmas, a charitable organization which provides toys and scholarships to children in under-sourced communities in EBRP.
She is a Philanthropist and fundraiser for numerous programs benefiting children including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Vincent DePaul Charity, Our Lady Of The Lake Children’s Hospital,
Big Buddy of Baton Rouge, Young Entrepreneurs Academy and serves on a Missions Medical Team in partnership with Cabo English Church in Cabo San Lucas on the “Feeding Los Cabos Kids” project.
Sylvia is active with many community projects and volunteers on several Executive boards including The Junior League of Baton Rouge, Capital Area Go Red For Women BR, and The Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center.
Sylvia grew up in “old” South Baton Rouge…and secured her first job in radio while she was a sophomore studying Broadcast Journalism at Louisiana State University.
She is married with two children…loves gardening, decorating Christmas trees…even landed a acting role as a news reporter in a Hallmark Christmas movie.
In fact, Sylvia has appeared in a dozen movies, plus the Lifetime Channel and Hallmark Channel which were filmed in BR, NOLA, New Iberia and Monroe including Pitch Perfect 2, One Night In Miami, National Treasures and One Nation Under God.
