Peggy Sweeney-McDonald is an event planner, actress, producer and writer. She is a native of Baton Rouge and an LSU Graduate. She returned home to Baton Rouge two years ago from Los Angeles, California where she was the Owner of Superstar Events-LA and produced unique and memorable red carpet, non-profit and corporate events. She is the creator of Meanwhile, Back at Café Du Monde… Life Stories About Food, the hit festive food monologue show and the author of the best-selling coffee table book by Pelican Publishing. After the premiere Meanwhile show in Baton Rouge in 2010, she produced the show across the country with over 150 shows with 400 storytellers sharing their food stories in restaurants, corporate events and non-profit events. Peggy has been a presenter at The Louisiana Book Festival, The Faulkner Society Words & Music Conference, The California Culinary Historians, The Louisiana Restaurant Association, Women of Infinite Possibilities, Passions of the Palate and the Chili Pepper Extravaganza. Since being back in Baton Rouge, she has created events for the Louisiana Marathon, Southern Food and Beverage Museum, the East Baton Rouge Library, Preserve Louisiana and the Louisiana International Film Festival. She recently produced and starred in the Pulitzer Prize winning play, Love Letters at the Old Governor’s Mansion. Peggy is presently the Event Director at Preserve Louisiana and hosts their cultural weekend tours including the upcoming Zydeco Acadia Prairie Tour May 31-June 2. She is married to a James McDonald, a realtor for Keller Williams. She is grateful to be honored for the 2019 Celebration of Women.
