Dr. Cordel Parris is truly living the American Dream. As an immigrant to this country she has overcome living in an immigrant boarding house and living in a homeless shelter. Hard work and diligence has brought her to this moment. Along the way the journey was peppered with extreme life choices. And here she stands, surviving and succeeding in the American Dream. There are many defining moments in her life. Each one individually is extreme, but in retrospect it was the journey that needed to happen to bring her to her divine destiny.
Dr. Parris is identified as a mother, cardiologist, and entrepreneur. She is the owner and CEO of Parris Cardiovascular Center, and is the only Afro- American female cardiologist in the state of Louisiana. She serves in a spiritual and holistic sense to save as many lives as she can until God takes her himself. It was the horrific events of the death of her beloved brother and later her mother that sparked the desire to serve and educate individuals in the area of health and well- being. From Parris Cardiovascular Center- Twilight Center was birthed. It is a walk in clinic and spa, which was created in 2015 to serve the needs of those who needed an extended care outside of the cardiovascular services. There is also the WHEFF Center. The “Woman’s Health Education Friends and Family center which is part of both Parris Cardiovascular Center and Twilight Center; it’s goal is to reach the needs of the population of health care issues and the many risks factors that are present in the community, like lack of healthy foods, and access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
“If I can help save one person, one soul to live a longer life; I would have done my purpose as a cardiologist, sister and daughter to the community.”
